Castrads & Hornbeam Cookware: A Manufacturing Partnership for Scaling-up Production.
"The Machining team have been instrumental in helping us refine the machining process, taking our cookware from prototyping and small-batch production to full-scale manufacturing. Their support and speed in providing feedback on casting quality, especially in identifying subsurface defects, has been invaluable. The team’s flexibility with machining irregular batch sizes and rushing parts for last-minute trade shows in the United States truly demonstrates their professionalism and unwavering dedication to customer satisfaction. Mantec’s expertise has been a huge aid in developing our manufacturing process."

Did you feel that we went above and beyond a traditional subcontractor?
"Mantec have been fantastic in helping develop and prove out the production process for our â„–10 & 12 pans, I feel very fortunate that you have had the available capacity to leave the tooling on the lathe whilst we went through so many casting revisions. Being able to put the castings on to the machine and turn them so we could provide feedback to the foundry in a day of them being delivered to us has really helped speed up the development progress. I'd say you have provided an excellent service which has definitely gone beyond what a typical subcontractor would be happy to do with regards to development and MOQ's.

Is there anything we have done that you feel is the biggest showing of this partnership ethos / what have you been most impressed with?
"Your willingness to help develop the parts and deal with our erratic supply of prototype parts! I'm very aware that we have delivered various casting revisions in dribs and drabs and are very appreciative of you being able to drop what you are doing to be able to prep them for feedback to the foundry. Your willingness to put the tooling on to your spare machine when you had a breakdown and helping to prepare castings in preparation for our trade show in the states was really appreciated."

What do you feel could do with some development for us to be a better partner?
I genuinely don't think that there is anything that can be improved upon at the moment. Communication is really good, you're always very receptive to me popping in and saying hi, Dale always picks up the phone and passes any messages on to Jordan or Nick for me. Turn around on parts is nice and quick.

Dynamic Controls: Reducing Lead Times and Supporting Overflowing Capacity
Dynamic Controls manufacturers high and low-pressure cartridge valves, manifolds, reducing stations and fluid/gas systems for critical and demanding applications.

By adding a bar feed to our TT1800SY and by investing in advanced tooling, we were able to reduce cycle times for Dynamic Control substantially, in one parts case, from a 25 minute cycle time down to a 13 minute cycle time.

Dynamic Controls do have their own machine shop in-house but they haven often given some overspill work to Mantec even before we bought the business in August 2023. Since our ownership where we have been able to offer continually improving lead times, we have seen our orders from Dynamic grow considerably in size and we have a really positive working relationship with them. We are able to reliably act as a safety net for their overflowing capacity, ensuring their customers notice no difference in service from them when they subcontract work to us.
MCT Brattberg: Reducing Lead Times and Increasing Reliability
MCT Brattberg design, develop and manufacture high-performance cable and pipe transits. They have been a customer of EGL Vaughan for over 10 years.
Since Allied Global Engineering acquired Mantec in August 2023 and we moved EGL Vaughan to the same site in January 2024, EGL Vaughan customers are able to benefit from newer and more powerful CNC machines and a CMM machine. We have been able to make more sophisticated investments as a result of having these better assets at our disposal and our already talented engineers have been able to elevate their skillset, productivity and working processes which all pass on benefits to customers like MCT Brattberg.
So for example for a gland body that EGL Vaughan have been making for years for MCT Brattberg, we saw opportunity to invest in more sophisticated tooling, which in combination with the more superior CNC machine decreased the cuts from 14 to 5 which decreased the cycle time. It also removed the need for thread repair when the parts returned from plating which has been a constant issue in the past preventing reliable on time delivery.
A few months later, due to continuous improvement efforts of our engineers, we were able to complete an order in what would have previously taken 30 days in just 13 days. MCT appreciate our desire to keep improving on their behalf and have since placed a 6 figure order.
CarnaudMetalBox: Reducing Manufacturing Costs and Lead Time whilst Maintaining Strict Tolerances
CarnaudMetalbox Engineering (CMB Engineering) designs, develops and manufactures high-performance metal forming and finishing machinery for the production of beverage, food and aerosol cans. They have been a long standing customer of Mantec Engineering.
Since Allied Global Engineering acquired Mantec in August 2023, we have been able to evolve the manufacturing process of parts that have been in production for years, speeding up the manufacturing of the CMB parts by maximising machine capabilities and by utilising quality probes within the machines, rather than pausing production to do external quality checks on the CMM. This translates into cost saving for the customer whilst maintaining the very precise tolerance requirements. The changes made have mostly been a result of investing in training, inter-company networking (giving our existing team of engineers chance to come and work in the newly acquired business) and hiring new highly skilled engineers – all allowing for a fresh perspective and increased knowledge of the machines and their capabilities.
